What Matters: Broadsides from Alaska is a collection of editioned broadsides created by Northwoods
Book Arts Guild (NBG) in partnership with 49 Writers and The Folk School Fairbanks (TFS). Each
broadside combines poetry with visual imagery and text printed on fine paper using a letterpress or
cylinder press. The project will be completed, documented in a catalog published by Northwoods
Press, and ready for exhibition in 2028.

I am thrilled to announce the opening of Books as Art 3 this Friday, November 5, 2021. Last Sunday, 164 handmade books were delivered to the Bear Gallery. For those of us coordinating the InTake Event, it was an exciting afternoon. I felt a keen sense of delight as each artist opened their box or bag and set their books on the table.
This Facebook Live event will include Books As Art 3 Overview and Introduction to the Northwoods Set Book Project with reading by poet Christopher Lee Miles, author of Armor & Ornament.
Northwoods Book Arts Guild has been awarded a group exhibition in the Fairbanks Arts Association’s Bear Gallery, scheduled for November 2021.
