Make plans to attend the next Northwoods Book Arts Guild meeting, at 4:45pm on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at the FAA Blue Room in Pioneer Park. Participating members will be exchanging winter cards hidden in brown paper bags… It will be great fun to see what comes out of those bags!* We will also create a model of a book using an origami styled binding called “The Lotus Fold.” This binding was featured at a recent workshop at The Folk School Fairbanks, led by Gustavus, AK book artist, Artemis BonaDea. A report of the workshop will be provided at the meeting.
*It is not too late to participate in the winter card exchange! Even if you missed the previous meeting, you may participate in the exchange: Make a winter-themed greeting card, using your choice of materials and structures. Bring it to the meeting in a brown paper lunch bag. Bags will be collected and numbered at the start of the meeting, members will draw a number, and open their corresponding bag. Surprise!
