“Fabulous Hand-Made Art Journals” was the first in this Year’s Guild Workshop series. Held at the Folk School Fairbanks on October 11, 2014, the class was small but the fun was large! Mary Baarlaer Maisch shared a “Cloth, Paper, Scissors” technique for creating art journals. Participants painted sheets of watercolor paper on both sides, and employed a simple folding technique and Japanese pamphlet stitch to produce a book with lively imagery, multiple pockets, and “deckle” edges. The possibilities for extension of this basic technique are boundless!
