We Are Pleased to Announce Our FIRST NBG Studio Session!
“Filling the Book” with Bev Byington and Mary Maisch
Saturday, April 16, 2016, 12:00 – 4:00pm
Location: The NBG Studio at the Folk School Fairbanks
Looking for a few new ways to fill your beautifully handmade books?
We will look at a sampling of attractive lettering styles, and then focus on creating pleasing texts featuring inspirational messages, quotations, poems, or your own written work. You will learn how to embellish your personal style of writing by adding a variety of strokes, flourishes, or patterns. You will also be introduced to basic collage techniques as you play with different materials for adding imagery to the text on your page. You can use this time to relax, ponder and create ideas that you may later put in your handmade books or fill some of your pages right away. You can get a head start on your May 26 Book Exchange book, as the theme is… Quotations! Imagine creatively filling the inside of your handmade books with great wonder, pleasure and surprise!
Bring: any supplies you think you might like to use… blank books, scissors, glue, scotch tape, pens, inks, markers, pencils, brushes, rag, special papers, quotations or poems you like that you may want to letter in special ways, stamps, memory scraps, magazine clippings, small photos etc.
We will provide a selection of markers and pens, ink, brushes, manila folders, a variety of papers, magazines, collage media, apples and brownies.
