Please bring your friends and prospective new members to our first meeting of the season on Thursday, October 2, 2014, from 5:00-7:00pm at the FAA Blue Room in Pioneer Park. We hope you had a wonderful summer, and gained some inspiration for new book-making endeavors from the variety of workshops that were offered. We would like to begin this fall meeting with a recap of your summer’s bookmaking experiences, including reflections on your entries in the “Books As Art” exhibition, which was a walloping success! There will be plenty of news and opportunities to share, and then we’ll enjoy a collaborative activity we’re calling, “Make Your Mark.” We will supply paper, and invite you to each bring one calligraphic mark-making tool or object of your choice, and ink or other media to go with it. For example, you could bring a fountain pen and ink, or a feather and ink, or a stick and soot, a brush and berry juice, a rubber stamp and stamp pad, or a q-tip and pastel powder, or so on! We will explore the possibilities by passing the tools and “inks” as we make our marks on our own master sheet. We look forward to seeing you there!
