Northwoods Book Arts Guild
is a community of artists actively learning about and creating artist books in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Guild promotes all aspects of book arts through education, participation in exhibitions, and community outreach.
NBG is affiliated with the North Star Community Foundation. The Foundation serves as our fiscal agent. All monetary transactions on our site, including membership and donations, are re-directed to the NSCF site in a new window.
NBG is also affiliated with The Folk School Fairbanks. Our studio is located on their campus and our summer program meetings and nearly all of our workshops are held there. Registrations and payments for Guild classes are managed through their website.
This workshop introduces the technique of binding a book on a frame, a practice that dates back to the Middle Ages. After looking at examples of antique books, and learning how to string the sewing frame, we will create a model book using three different techniques of sewing across the spine.read more
